Sherlock star's actor parents are supportive
Benedict Cumberbatch loves to make his parents proud.
‘They are [thrilled with my success] – it’s really lovely,’ says Benedict, 36.
‘They still work. They’ve still got their careers. But they’re over the moon.
‘It’s one of the driving motivations of my life to just get out of bed and make them proud.’
Benedict’s grateful to his parents for sending him to good schools and always supporting his acting career, despite the fact that they weren’t keen on him following in their footsteps.
‘They tried everything to put me off this as a career,’ the actor tells S Magazine.
‘They gave me an education where I could choose to be anything but an actor, which I was very privileged to have, and then I threw it back in their faces.’
