Pair given a drastic makeover for The Saddest Show In The Word poster

Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh Butler and Pudsey the dancing dog have been named the face of PETA‘s new campaign.

The posters for the welfare charity’s latest initiative – which calls for a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses – shows Ashleigh and her talented pooch transformed into a sad clown and battered lion.

Ashleigh was keen to get involved after finding out about the cruel ways animals are trained for the spotlight.

‘I was shocked to learn the full extent of how some animals are treated in the circus and the beatings they endure to perform tricks,’ she says.

Pudsey loves performing, but I find it disgusting that people resort to violence and some of the wild animals suffer for the sake of so-called “entertainment”.’

But, despite the sombre nature of the cause, the 17-year-old TV star says her prized pet enjoyed taking part.

Pudsey loved the attention and was really well-behaved throughout.

‘I think he knew how important this photoshoot was to me.’
