His condition 'rapidly escalated into something very serious'
Fans were worried for the health of Sir Bruce Forsyth today after it was revealed he’s been in intensive care for five days with ‘very serious’ health concerns.
The 89-year-old TV legend was hospitalised after coming down with an infection, with doctors taking ‘extra precautions’ due to his old age. Wife Wilnelia, 59, has reportedly been by his side the entire time.
A friend of the former Strictly Come Dancing host told Mail Online: ‘Bruce came down with an infection last weekend, and it rapidly escalated into something very, very serious.
‘He was rushed to St Peter’s and put straight into ICU because of his age, and the nature of his illness. He was in a lot of pain, but has been very stoical throughout.
‘Of course, because he is nearly 90, doctors had to take extra precautions and Bruce had to stay in intensive care for a minimum of five nights. Wilnelia was by his bedside virtually the entire time, and has been amazing.’
The news prompted concern amongst Brucie’s fans online, with ‘Bruce Forsyth’ quickly trending on Twitter.
One fan wrote: ‘Praying he pulls through 🙏’
Another posted: ‘Oh no, Bruce Forsyth is in intensive care I swear if 2017 takes him I’m out.’
And the outpouring of well-wishes didn’t stop there…
It looks as though the star is doing better though as last night he was reportedly preparing to return to his home Surrey where Wilnelia will nurse him.
It’s not the first time Brucie’s frail health has left people alarmed. He underwent heart surgery last year to treat two aneurysms he suffered in November 2015 after they were discovered following a fall at home.
He was then forced to pull out of a public appearance at Wilnelia’s candle launch as he recovered, sparking concern amongst fans.
We’ll be praying that Bruce is feeling back to his best soon.
