Is the honeymoon over for the stressed-out couple?
Sources say work and relationship pressures have made it harder for them to relax and enjoy each other’s company – and wonder whether Bey, 33, and Jay, 45, have been hit by the curse of the seven-year itch.
A source tells Now: ‘It’s been a tough year for Bey and Jay and they’re feeling the strain. They’ve been seen arguing in public and Solange attacking Jay in a lift was the worst thing that could’ve happened. It totally burst their bubble and shattered their “perfect couple” image. It’s a relief that they’ve made it to seven years after the strain they’ve been under.’
Even their low-key anniversary last week was a far cry from how the couple – who have a three-year-old daughter Blue Ivy – usually like to celebrate. Last year, they marked the occasion with a tropical getaway to the Dominican Republic. A holidaymaker who saw them commented: ‘They seemed happy and in love. Beyoncé looked beautiful.’ The previous year they’d jetted to Havana, Cuba, accompanied by their mums Tina Knowles and Gloria Carter. Aww.
But this year the run-up to the anniversary was very different. Standing in line alongside Kanye West and Madonna, Beyoncé dutifully pitched up to support Jay as he launched his new music service Tidal in New York. Although she was goofing around with Alicia Keys and Nicki Minaj backstage, Bey appeared less than touchy-feely with her hubby.
It caps a year of stress for the pair.
In November, Beyoncé sparked concern when she appeared to be rocking back and forth in a trance-like state at a basketball game with her man. And more recently, Jay-Z‘s been named in a paternity suit filed by 21-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite, who claims his mother hooked up with Jay in the early 90s. After the year Bey and Jay have had, let’s hope things can only get better …
