Their country retreat reportedly cost £2m

Carey Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford have reportedly invested in a country pile in Devon.

The 16th century farmhouse is in a perfect location, as the private pair have already become regulars in some of the local pubs close to their new home.

Though Mumford and Sons played a sell-out gig and were joined by Prince Harry backstage at the weekend, and Carey, 28, is the star of blockbusters including The Great Gatsby, the couple shuns the showbiz lifestyle in favour of a private life in non-glitzy locations.

Previous holidays include the Orkney Islands, and they chose a Somerset farm for their intimate wedding last year.

The extra space would be certainly be suitable for a family home, and despite her private nature, Carey has hinted that she’d like to have children in the future.

‘I do love babies. Being around them calms me down because you don’t have to think about all your ridiculous worries,’ she has said.
