Cheeky chappy Olly Murs almost pursued a romance with Caroline Flack - but decided work had to come first
The happiest man in pop Olly Murs has told Good Morning Britain that he and Caroline Flack were almost an item, after Caroline tweeted about fancying him way back in 2009. Ok, calm down everyone, because these days they’re strictly platonic, but Olly has revealed that their flirting almost led to something more.
‘It all stems from a tweet she did in 2009 when I auditioned for The X Factor, saying she fancied me. Then we started to work with each other and when we first worked with each other, we were both single so…we were flirting, having a lot of fun, then we realised this should never happen. If we want to work together we can’t be doing this.’
Well, aren’t they a sensible pair! If only we applied the same logic when it came to fit Ben from the accounts department. His relationship with Caroline wasn’t the only part of The X Factor that Olly discussed – he also gushed about how the show changed his life when first appeared as a contestant aged 25.
“It was an amazing experience, I loved it,’ he told Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway. ‘When I watch [my first audition] back I get quite emotional – I was 25, I’d just come out of a call centre and that was my moment that was everything to me. I had to get a yes, I had to. There was no way I was walking out of that arena without one. It was the moment that changed my life.’
Oh, Olly, you big softie. Careful, or you’ll set Simon Cowell off – the usually unflappable Mr Cowell has been distinctly more emotional this series, and even appeared to have tears in his eyes after a couple of particularly heartfelt auditions.
We think Olly and Caroline are doing a grand hosting job so far – just remember, guys, no flirting!
