Star throws in the towel after three years
Russell Brand has left Big Brother’s Big Mouth after presenting the show for three years.
The loudmouth comedian announced his decision to leave the E4 show that launched him into stardom, saying it was time to follow other interests.
‘Whilst I recognise this isn’t as significant as the resignation of Beckham or the Cuban missile crisis, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone,’ he said. ‘The three years I’ve spent on Big Brother’s Big Mouth have been unprecedented joy.’
The 31-year-old thanked the shows programme makers for ‘taking the risk of employing an ex-junkie twerp’.
Russell currently presents a weekly show on BBC Radio 2 and is lined up to appear in the new St Trinian’s film.
A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: ‘Russell Brand has been a fantastic frontman for Big Brother Big Mouth for the past three years. We wish him all the best in his new adventures.’
