From plumped-up lips to frozen features – have these stars been messing with their looks?
We’re used to seeing stars looking freakishly filtered on Instagram, but something about these famous faces has made us wonder if they’ve been messing around with Mother Nature more than they’ve admitted to. We spoke to Harley Street cosmetic surgeon Dr Tijion Esho to get his expert opinion…
Geordie Shore star Charlotte has always been open about having cosmetic procedures, including regular lip fillers, Botox and even a nose job. The results have left her face looking completely different. But as pictures emerged recently of the 26-year-old looking even more plumped than before, has her surgery binge gone too far? Charlotte doesn’t think so, saying: ‘You only live once.’
The Tik Tok singer’s once thin lips have been looking noticeably fuller lately – even in her make-up-free selfies. Although Kesha, 29, has never admitted to having any surgery, Dr Esho says: ‘There’s evidence of Botox use and her nose is much more streamlined, which could be due to rhinoplasty. Looking closely, there’s a mild increase in volume in both upper and lower lip, which could suggest subtle lip enhancement with dermal fillers.’
Mariah’s never admitted to having cosmetic surgery. But after the singer’s features started to appear exaggerated and even a bit wonky, fans claimed she’s looking older than her 47 years. One tweeted: ‘She looks like a 50-year-old that’s had shitloads of surgery.’ But with rumours that Mariah’s planning on undergoing extensive surgery in preparation for her wedding, Dr Esho says: ‘Her eyebrows are lower set, there’s a widening of the glabella area [between the brows] and also a shiny, thin appearance to her skin, suggesting Botox use.’
The Bridget Jones star has been looking pretty unrecognisable from her former self ever since her appearance at an event in LA drew gasps in 2014. Renée, 47, has shrugged off the surgery accusations as ‘silly’ and recently slammed society’s perception of what’s beautiful, saying: ‘[We are] made to believe that there’s some value in meeting a social paradigm.’ But Dr Esho says: ‘Renée’s eyelids appear much more taut, suggesting upper and lower lid blepharoplasty. There’s a mild increase in volume in the mid face, suggesting use of a volumising dermal filler, as well as dermal filler to enhance lip volume.’
Even though Sarah, 34, appeared on This Morning recently saying she’s been nowhere near a Botox needle, viewers thought there was something different about her face. Dr Esho says: ‘It’s likely she could’ve had dermal treatments to her mid face to increase volume and definition, but overuse has resulted in increased puffiness.’
There was something a bit different about The Saturdays’ Frankie, 27, when she appeared on Lorraine recently. Dr Esho agrees: ‘There’s a mild increase in volume in both her lips, which could suggest subtle lip enhancement with dermal fillers.’ Frankie’s never spoken about having anything done to her face, but she defended Amanda Holden when she was accused of having too much Botox, saying: ‘Surely it’s up to the individual what they do?’
