When people judge you on your appearance, you have two ways to deal with it...

You’d think being a hugely intelligent and successful woman would spare you from hurtful body-shaming comments online. But, no, once again the internet has failed us as Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty from The Chase has admitted she faces horrible comments about her body all the time.

The Chasers are trained quizzers and banterers yet there is such a thing as taking comments too far.

Speaking to The Express, The Governess revealed: ‘You need to grow a thick skin.

‘If someone asks, “Why are all the Chasers fat?” you can say, “Body-shaming’s really hurtful and offensive!” or you can say, “Because every time we get an answer right, we get a biscuit.”

‘Which is more likely to get you a new follower and reputation for being a good sport?’

However, the 57-year-old says she is much more protective over her co-stars, who also suffer abuse at the hands of the online masses.

‘I’m more defensive on behalf of the other Chasers than I am on my own behalf.’

The fanbase of the hugely successful quiz show, The Chase Gang, are known to target contestants and Chasers for pretty weird reasons. For example, this week they started mocking someone for supporting Aston Villa over Manchester United.

Might not know much about football, but not sure how that leads to taking the mick.

Still, don’t think The Governess is leaving our screens any time soon.

‘I hate the thought of having to, but I can’t think of any circumstances in which I’d choose to leave. This is the best job I’ve ever had!’
