Police say model is unlikely to face criminal charges
A chauffeur has accused Naomi Campbell of assaulting him and then running away.
The 27-year-old – who has not been identified – told police yesterday that the model hit him from behind while he was driving her to New York’s Astoria Studios.
The force of the blow is alleged to have caused his head to collide with the steering wheel and left him with bruising under his right eye.
New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne says Naomi, 39, is unlikely to face criminal charges because no officers witnessed the alleged attack.
After consulting with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, a harassment report, which doesn’t carry any penalty, has been issued.
The driver has also not decided to pursue the matter criminally but could in a civil court.
An assistant for Naomi – who was not at the scene when cops arrived – yesterday went to the station where the man gave his account.
‘There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment,’ her spokesman Jeff Raymond tells the Associated Press.
‘Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye.’
