The Hoy family went through a traumatic ordeal...

Sarra Hoy, the lawyer wife of Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy, has opened up about her premature birth which happened 11 weeks early. Her heartfelt confession follows World Prematurity Day, which was last week on November 17.

Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine show this morning alongside husband Chris and her adorable baby boy Callum, Sarra opened up about the hard time she had when she gave birth prematurely to her son, who is now over a year old. She said: ‘It had been a very healthy pregnancy, I’d been in hospital the week before because I’d been unwell, but nothing was wrong with the baby. But we were told that that was it and he had to come out.’

Describing her shock ordeal, she said: ‘It was a terrible time, I barely had a bump I wasn’t even in maternity clothes.’ We can’t imagine how poor Sarra felt during those tough moments. Thankfully, her athlete husband, whom she married back in April 2010, was right by her side: ‘Chris was amazing and was my absolute support throughout it, he’s smitten and besotted with the wee baby.’

We’ll over the moon to hear that baby Callum is now in perfect health, according to Sarra, who said: ‘At the moment he’s a picture of health, when we take him to his check-ups we get a gold star.’ That’s amazing news. Judging by the adorable images Sarra has posted on Twitter of Callum, including a snap of him next to Daddy’s dumbbells, Callum is on the way to becoming big and strong, just like his father!
