Ben Cohen and wife Abby were told their daughters were sons at first
He’s Strictly Come Dancing‘s hottest pin-up ever (we’ve been lusting after him since the first time he slipped on his glittery Lycra).
Rugby champion Ben Cohen, 35, is dad to two beautiful 5-year-old twin girls with wife Abby but becoming parents wasn’t easy.
‘We tried to have kids for four years, since I was 25, but we had a miscarriage and eventually we had IVF,’ Ben tells Now’s Amy Brookbanks in our exclusive interview.
‘I’d always wanted to be a dad and Abs and I had been in a solid relationship since we were 16, so it made sense.
‘It’s not very nice at the time, but I’m a big believer that things happen for a reason. That can sound very cold, I know.’
Ben and Abby have been through a lot together.
‘Yeah, a hell of a lot,’ he concedes. ‘It was a journey and a half, but once you have two kids you forget about it.
‘There was nothing wrong with us, that’s the crazy thing – we just couldn’t fall pregnant.
‘It was a daunting prospect to have IVF, but we were very fortunate to have two beautiful girls.
‘Around seven weeks, we were told we were having twin boys. Two weeks later they said actually they’re girls!
‘It was so funny. And amazing! Abs got massive – the girls were 6lb 10oz and 6lb 12oz, which is big for twins.’
