The actor looks better natural

Benedict Cumberbatch endured an embarrassing grooming mishap yesterday.

The Sherlock actor, 36, sported visible face make-up and over-styled hair as he promoted his movie Star Trek Into Darkness in Tokyo, Japan.

A line could be seen where the orange foundation plastered onto his face – which was a couple of shades too dark for his skin – ended.

Benedict‘s dyed brunette locks seemed to have a little bit too much hairspray in them, making his curls look wet.

Despite his heavily made-up appearance, Benedict‘s fans – known as the Cumberbitches – had earlier gone wild for him when he touched down at the city’s Narita Airport.

He bowed down before chatting to them at the arrivals gate.

‘I just want to say to all of you – I’m sorry I can’t come round and meet you all individually, I know how long some of you have waited here and I’m very, very touched,’ said Benedict.

‘When I get home, my mum and dad don’t even come and see me at the airport, so to have all of you here is so amazing.’
