The teen singer has set the record straight
The 18-year-old rapper spoke out on ITV show Daybreak this morning after appearing to suggest earlier this week that singing live is a bit of struggle for her former X Factor mentor.
‘I wasn’t doing that all, I was saying I would love to perform with her and I made a little joke about only if she sang live,’ says Cher.
‘I think it all got blown out of proportion. I just want to say sorry to her if she found that offensive. But at the end of the day, she is the person who got me to where I am today.
‘[Being young] is not an excuse, I should still be on top of it. I’m in the public eye now, so word vomit is not good.’
Cher got herself into trouble when she was asked by DJs on Real Radio Northwest if she’d ever be prepared to duet with Cheryl, 28.
‘Maybe if she sings live with me,’ said Cher.
She then hinted that singing without technical jiggery-pokery could be a bit of a challenge for the Girls Aloud star.
‘Well, it is nowadays, when you haven’t got the nifty little button to press.’
An unimpressed Cheryl later hit back on Twitter.
‘Be Careful who you kick on your way up .. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.. #unappreciationisugly,’ she Tweeted.
