David Beckham is a key figure in London Games 2012 Opening Ceremony

David Beckham bonded with Michelle Obama in east London on Friday before taking part in the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Becks gave Michelle, 48, a few soccer tips to launch the Let’s Move Get Fit campaign and America’s First Lady met US contestants who have been training in the capital.

Then the soccer star get dressed in a smart suit and tie to ferry the Olympic Torch along the Thames on a speedboat.

David, 37, loves to drive his collection of fast cars and his motorbike, but he had a little help with steering the vessel, named Max Power, which headed towards Tower Bridge on London’s waterway with Team GB footballer Jade Bailey holding the flame aloft.

As David arrived, Sir Steve Redgrave took up the baton to start Danny Boyle’s £27 million amazing spectacular for the London Games 2012 at the Olympic
Stadium in Stratford, complete with a spectacular fireworks display.

‘I am going to be just proud just to be there as a fan more than anything,’ says David, who was not picked for the GB football squad.

Earlier last week he met Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.

Becks delivered a letter about child hunger that had been signed by over 50 high profile figures from the sporting and entertainment worlds.
