Harry Styles has sent his support to Matt Cardle after The X Factor winner revealed that he’s checked himself into The Priory for prescription drugs addiction.

One Direction singer Harry, 19, sent a sweet Tweet to Matt, 30, yesterday, who he grew close to when they both competed on the talent show’s 2010 series.

‘@matt_cardle_uk see you soon brother .x,’ Tweeted Harry.

It was reported earlier this week that Matt had entered rehab for a 28-day programme to deal with his addictions to temazepam and Valium. 

He is said to have become dependent on the pills due to the stress of releasing his last two records on an independent label.

Matt shared a snap of a handwritten note with his Twitter followers on New Year’s Eve, which appeared to confirm the rumours.

‘I want to thank my fans for all your lovely messages of support… I’m getting myself better… I want to be ready to give it 110% on tour next year,’ read the letter.

‘I love you all and will see you on the other side. Happy New Year! All my love.’
