The actress causes controversy after US school shooting tragedy

Helen Flanagan has caused outrage after posting a Twitter photo of herself holding a gun to her head just days after 26 people were massacred at American school Sandy Hook.

The I’m A Celebrity star was accused of ‘brainless stupidity’ for uploading the snap on the day the first victims were laid to rest in Newtown, Connecticut.

‘This is plain wrong. You can’t do this,’ town resident Garrett Gloss tells The Sun.

‘It looks like she is just trying to get her name out there.’

Helen, 22, had originally published the racy picture – which was taken during a lingerie photo shoot – in October but re-posted it with the caption ‘Head F*ck*’ on Monday, although she later deleted it.

She took to Twitter today to hit back at reports labelling her ‘insensitive’, as well as re-Tweet a series of messages agreeing that she’d done ‘nothing wrong’.

‘I am absolutely disgusted in this. Completely cruel. I will absolutely NOT stand for this kind of bullying. Anyone who knows me knows I have the biggest heart,’ Tweets Helen.

‘I feel really chocked up that’s so cruel. Honestly I’ve got tears streaming down my face how can you do that to someone over something so tragic #feelsick can’t believe I woke up to that.’
