The singer will play an iconic role

Kerry Katona has been cast as Marilyn Monroe in a new musical documenting the late actress’s life.

The Atomic Kitten star – who was recently declared bankrupt for a second time – will play the legendary blonde in Norma Jeane The Musical.

‘I’m thrilled to have been given this opportunity to play one of the world’s biggest female icons and can’t wait to get to work,’ says Kerry, 32.

‘A successful career in drama has always been a main goal of mine and this role is a challenge but one I’m going to grab with both hands.’

Norma Jeane The Musical has been written by Belvedere Pashun, who’s also penned shows including WAG! The Musical and Les Dawson The Musical.

He reckons he’s found the perfect lead in mum-of-four Kerry and is looking forward to her first performance in front of an invite-only audience in London this September.

‘I needed an actor of huge talent, personality and experience – Kerry was at the top of my list,’ says Belvedere.

‘This show will change the shape of people’s perceptions of Marilyn Monroe and we expect to announce a new star of drama on stage and screen with Kerry‘s performance.’
