The Coronation Street actor says his and Kym's relationship was more than just a fling
It was reported in October that Oliver, 32, had cheated on partner Charlotte Bury with Kym, 37 – who was married to Jamie Lomas – but now he’s opened up about how serious things got.
‘We loved each other and we weren’t afraid to say it. It wasn’t something we intended to happen, but we couldn’t stop our feelings,’ says Oliver.
‘We planned a future together. We dreamed about me moving up north and living together. We spoke of how wonderful life would be.’
The pair first kissed on a Valentine’s cast night out after flirting on set and got intimate when Kym invited Oliver to an apartment she’d rented with friends three weeks after he left Corrie.
Their romance led Oliver – who’s now dating model Rhian Sugden – to split with his girlfriend and he reckons it was a catalyst in Kym and Jamie‘s divorce, which was granted this month.
But the fling fizzled out because mum-of-three Kym felt so guilty about cheating on EastEnders actor Jamie, 33, and didn’t want to hurt her family.
‘We were always careful not to get found out. But as my feelings became stronger she seemed to become more worried,’ Oliver tells the Daily Mirror.
‘Any excitement that came with sneaking around in the beginning disappeared and I started to lose faith we were ever going to be together publicly.’
