The singer gets a traditional Kiwi etching
Rihanna has been branded with a shock new tattoo.
The singer, 25 – who already has a number of etchings – took a trip to Auckland parlour Moko Ink this week to get a traditional Maori design on her right hand.
Ri-Ri‘s latest piece of body art reaches from her fingernails to her forearm and is composed of tiny lines and symbols.
But while most artists use needle machines on their customers, tattooists at Moko Ink create their pieces with an old-school chisel, ink pallet and a mallet.
In a video posted online, Rihanna is seen wincing as Moko Ink‘s Inia Taylor bashes the chisel into her knuckles with his mallet to secrete pigment into her skin.
At one point, he asks the Bajan star to wipe away her blood so he can see what he’s doing more clearly.
Rihanna seemed to love her time in the New Zealand capital – despite the painful procedure – where she played three shows on her Diamonds world tour.
‘Bye Bye New Zealand!! I love you!!! Hate to leave….soon,’ she Tweeted this morning.
