But TV host's busy schedule is getting in the way

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he needs an operation to investigate a lump in his bowel.

Chris Evans underwent surgery last month to remove pre-cancerous growths, but Jeremy has suggested he’s ‘too busy’ to have the potentially life-saving op himself.

‘Like Chris Evans, doctors recently found a tumour in my bowel which needs removing,’ Jeremy, 51, writes in his newspaper column.

‘Unlike Chris Evans, I can’t find a hole in my diary to have anything done about it.’

Radio 2 DJ Chris, whose dad died from the illness when Chris was 13, didn’t waste time in having his surgery.

‘As far as the procedure went, it was lights, camera, action and on we go with the show,’ said Chris, 45.

‘A couple of pesky potential future little problems were discovered and
swiftly removed, but other than that I’m afraid you’re stuck with me
for a few years longer at least.’

A spokesman for Jeremy Clarkson has now confirmed that his claim was ‘a joke’.
