Mike purchases his wife's card on the day

Zara Phillips‘ husband Mike Tindall made a last-minute dash to supermarket Sainsbury’s to buy his beloved a card to celebrate their first wedding anniversary last week.

The rugby player, 33, chose a £2.99 design for his royal wife which read: ‘To the woman I’d marry all over again’.

Equestrian Zara, 31 – who’s the cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry – celebrated her and Mike‘s anniversary on 30 July, the day before she won an Olympic silver medal in the team eventing competition.

Mike had been watching Zara compete at Greenwich Park when he snuck off to the supermarket on nearby Greenwich High Road.

‘I recognised him immediately because he was so big and his head was shaved,’ the shop assistant who served Mike tells The Sun.

‘He bought one of the bigger cards. All the staff were very excited and we started talking about it.’
