I'm A Celebrity's Craig Charles decided to head back to the UK from Australia after learning his elder sibling suddenly died
Craig Charles has left the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here jungle after his older brother suddenly died.
The Coronation Street actor had to pull out of the show upon hearing the devastating news of his 52-year-old sibling’s passing away.
Dean – a Merseyside police officer and father-of-two – suffered a heart attack on Tuesday evening.
Due to the time difference between Britain and Australia, producers of the ITV show decided to wait until Thursday morning to tell Craig, 49, that he had lost his family member.
Craig is expected to fly back to the UK later to help younger brother Emile and the rest of the family arrange the funeral.
‘Craig decided to leave the IAC camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family,’ a spokesperson for the channel revealed.
Dean’s ex-wife Karen Shaw revealed that the dad to her children was on good form so his passing came as a surprise.
‘It’s a shock. He was always fit and healthy. Craig will have to leave the jungle after this,’ she said.
Sources say he was devastated and exited pretty quickly after saying his goodbyes to the other celebrities.
In an interview with the Guardian newspaper earlier this year Red Dwarf actor Craig said that his earliest memory of Dean was him cowering behind the couch during an episode of Star Trek.
As a favourite to win I’m A Celebrity, Craig’s departure will especially be felt as TOWIE‘s Gemma Collins quit this week too, after lasting just three full days in the competition.
Now X Factor 2014 reject Jake Quickenden and MP Edwina Currie have joined the stars slumming it in hammocks and surviving on lentils, bugs and porridge for food.
