'Metrosexual' David is happy to strip off
David Beckham doesn’t have any regrets about doing a raunchy photoshoot for a gay magazine.
The soccer star, who retired from the sport this year, stripped off to appear on the cover of Attitude in 2002 and would happily do it again.
I had no problem posing for Attitude then, and I would have no problem now,’ says David, 38.
I know that some people thought it was controversial, but I was just being myself…’
David was known for being ‘metrosexual’ in the early days of his career – having on different occasions worn make-up, a sarong and matching outfits with wife Victoria – but was never concerned with what others would think.
To be honest, I wasn’t thinking about politics, or how it might affect attitudes, or how it would be perceived in the future,’ the dad-of-four tells The Times Magazine.
I was just doing what felt right. I have always had a very open attitude to other people and try to be inclusive. Isn’t that what life is about?’
