David Gandy and Mollie King are back together - but is it for good?

It’s getting dizzy on the showbiz merry-go-round of relationships.

David Gandy is back together with The Saturdays singer Mollie King, and the first pictures have emerged of them walking hand-in-hand since their split.

While we are delighted for this yummy couple, we can’t help thinking of Ross and Rachel from Friends and their famous ‘We were on a break’ line. Despite breaking up and getting back together several times over 10 years, in the end, their romance survived.

So is second time lucky a charm?

Other couples that have survived a break-up and reunited include Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas.

Their marriage was under strain after her bipolar disorder and his cancer hell, but the couple has reunited and is stronger than ever.

Singer Pink and hubby Carey Hart split up in their early days, dated other people, then reunited to have adorable daughter Willow and the rest is history.

It’s not always so smooth-going though.

Just ask Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick. After Scott’s wild partying back in the days of E!’s Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney ditched him for the sake of their son Mason.

It often seemed they were going to part ways for good after he was accused of cheating on her too. But these two lovebirds do seem to work it out a lotand have baby no.3 on the way.

The experts say the outlook for relationships after a trial separation is variable: 10 per cent of couples in ongoing marriages have split up and got back together, according to a study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, which also suggests that a third of reconciliations are successful.

Relationship psychologist Susan Quilliam, author of The New Joy of Sex, suggests all separations are by definition, trial separations, whatever name the couple chooses.

She said: ‘People contacting me who have already split up wouldn’t be getting in touch unless they hoped to get back together. In most couples, at least one will be hoping they get back together.’

So there’s hope for Mollie and David yet…
