The fitness DVD queen Davina McCall talks exclusively about her diet secrets and festive plans

When it comes to body inspiration, there’s only one woman at the top of our list – Davina McCall. With a figure to die for at 47, the TV presenter is about to launch her latest DVD – Davina 7 Minute Fit – and a new lifestyle wesbite in the New Year too.

Here Davina talks exclusively to Now’s Body special about her fitness tricks and Christmas plans…

What’s your advice for anyone starting from zero fitness?
I know how hard it is to take that first step. Sometimes just working out is so hard but sign up to do a charity run or walk. Have a goal like a dress to get into or something like a holiday. Staying fit is brilliant because then you don’t have to start again every January, which is a real pain. And I only weigh myself once a week to keep on track. And DVDs are perfect because you don’t have to worry about gym bunnies looking gorgeous in Lycra.

You’ve got your own wesbite launching – what’s it about?
In the New Year, we’re bringing out a new subscription website – If you buy the DVD you get a code to use the website free for a month. It’s not going to be expensive. You get workouts tailor made for your size, your body shape, your goals and where you want to be.

What will you wear over Christmas?
When in doubt, go for comedy. I frequently do Mrs. Santa on Christmas Day. I never know what to wear, I’ll be cooking all day so wearing a sexy Santa outfit and a pair of wellies is brilliant. I didn’t do it last year but two years before I was in a sexy Santa outfit, black and white stripped socks, wellies and a Santa hat. Matthew and the kids thought it was hilarious.

Do you make New Year resolutions?
I do. I spend so much time cleaning up the kitchen, checking my work emails, I would like to sit down and play Monopoly with my kids [Holly, 13, Tilly, 11, and Chester, seven]. It drives me to distraction because as soon as someone else gets Park Lane and Mayfair I want to tip the board over and storm out like a petulant child. So, my new year’s resolution is to to learn to have the patience to play a board game. When I do sit down we laugh so much. My favourite time with my kids is bedtime. I get to spend individual time with each of them and spending time listening to what they want to talk about. Time. That’s so important.

Davina’s new DVD, Davina – 7 Minute Fit, is released on 26 December and her new website,, launches in January.
