‘What I do is manageable as a working mum. I’m certainly not obsessed about having a six-pack. Fitness is about making me feel good,’ says Denise.
The presenter and actress has a five-year-old daughter, Betsy, from her marriage with stage actor Lee Mead. Though Denise and Lee split in 2013 and finalised their divorce in December 2015, they have remained good friends and are occasionally spotted spending time altogether as a family – cute!
Elsewhere in the magazine, Denise explains how she works around her parenting duties to squeeze in some workouts: ‘After school drop-off, I go with some mums to a body pump class. I use free weights for squats, which kill me!’
Also part of her busy schedule is her boyfriend, city worker Eddie Boxshall. The pair have been seeing each other since 2014, and recently returned from a holiday together in Barbados. They also have taken to playing golf together – with hilarious results:
‘We’re like a comedy act on the course because we do argue quite a lot!’ she laughs.
Denise also spoke of her admiration for good friend and personal trainer Nicki Waterman, who recently revealed her cancer battle.
‘I’ve always turned to her when I’ve needed help with training,’ admits Denise. ‘Throughout her illness, she’s been amazing – I can’t come out with excuses not to exercise because she’s kept training throughout. She’s incredible.’
The full interview, along with Denise’s leg toning workout appears in the new issue of Fit & Well magazine, out now only £1.99
