Lee isn't a huge fan of the seaside resort but there was one delicious treat
Lee Mead won’t be buying a home in Skegness any time soon.
The musical theatre star, who is married to Denise Van Outen, didn’t have a great time in the Lincolnshire seaside town when he performed there once.
‘I did a show in Skegness. It wasn’t the biggest audience,’ says Lee, 31.
‘It’s not the sort of place I’d want to settle down in. The ice cream was nice though.’
Lee‘s visit to Skeggers was probably improved by one of Appleby’s Famous Farm Ices, made to the same recipe since 1913.
But he doesn’t have time to nip back for another vanilla cone because he’s currently starring in West End Men at the Vaudeville Theatre in London.
Lee – who got his break on TV talent show Any Dream Will Do in 2007 – loves musicals.
‘You get to act and sing – it’s not just out and out pop songs, there’s a narrative to it,’ the dad-of-one tells Metro.
‘If it’s the right show, it works really well.’
