Posh's bid to be on the cover of US style bible Vogue is doomed to fail
Victoria Beckham seems to have all a girl could want.
Sexy husband? Check. Squillions in the bank? Check. Successful fashion line? Check.
But there’s one thing that’s eluding the ambitious 36-year-old – and it’s driving her mad.
Posh, who’s lived in LA for four years, can’t get on the cover of US Vogue. This is all despite desperate efforts to prove her worth to the mag’s formidable editor Anna Wintour.
‘Victoria’s currently on the cover of Turkish Vogue. It’s her fifth cover for international editions, but there’s still no offer from US Vogue,’ reveals Now’s insider.
‘She’s dreamt of being on that cover since she was little. Right now she’s on an all-out charm offensive and has been sending Anna flowers and notes for the past few weeks to get noticed.’
Legendary Hollywooed celeb stylist Phillip Bloch agrees, saying Posh shouldn’t expect a call any time soon.
‘She hasn’t been a huge American success and she’s too tabloid for Anna’s tastes,’ he tells Now.
‘And she’s getting a bit old. Anna loves relevance and youth: Victoria has neither. The only way she’d get the cover is to buy her way there.’ Ouch!
While Sienna Miller is lined up for her fourth US Vogue cover, Phillip thinks Victoria should forget it. ‘Hilary Swank has two damned Oscars and she’s only been on one Vogue cover,’ he says.
‘If Victoria’s expecting a cover just because she wants one, she needs to wake up and smell the coffee.’
However, Posh is ‘a determined woman who’s charmed her way into lots of places and situations,’ says a friend. ‘Maybe the US Vogue cover will be one of them.’
