White Flag singer says it's a coincidence
Dido insists that her baby son’s name is nothing to do with the song that shot her to fame.
The singer gave birth to her first child Stanley in December 2011 but has denied he’s named after Stan, her hit duet with Eminem from 2000.
‘Stanley was always going to be his name,’ says Dido, 41.
‘And I really didn’t connect the two, surprisingly. They are both different names to me and have totally different meanings for me.
‘I’m grateful to how that song launched my career. But that’s as far as it goes in regards to my baby.’
Dido, who is married to screenwriter and director Rohan Gavin, admits she’s always found her own moniker embarrassing.
The White Flag singer’s full name is Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong and even her shorter nickname Dido annoyed her.
‘I thought it was cruel to call me Dido and then just expect me to deal with it,’ she tells The Sun.
After a break away from the limelight, Dido’s new album is called Girl Who Got Away.
