The Federal Drug Authority launches investigation
Two doctors who are believed to have prescribed Heath Ledger drugs – including the powerful painkiller Vicodin – are under investigation by US federal drug authorities.
The Australian actor, 28, was found dead in his New York apartment on the 22 January after an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
‘We are investigating doctors in Los Angeles and Texas with regard to Ledger’s prescriptions,’ a source tells People.com.
Besides Vicodin, autopsy results also showed that Heath’s system contained Oxycodone, Diazepam (Valium) and Temazepam, which treats anxiety or sleeplessness.
No wrongdoing as been suggested but the investigators want to determine whether the painkillers we prescribed legally.
‘We don’t know yet,’ says the insider. ‘The agents were there this week, and we are waiting to hear from them.’
