Eamonn Holmes called in to This Morning on Monday

After a double hip replacement operation last week, Eamonn Holmes says that he’s ‘going through hell’ during the recovery process.

The presenter had the procedure on Thursday 4th February, and on Monday’s edition of This Morning, he managed to call in to speak with fellow anchors Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield and told them how he was feeling:

‘I am going through hell!’ he began. ‘No, the truth is, I think anyone would rather not be going through what I am but to anyone who is facing this operation, I want to say that the people here really do know what they are doing and the technology is so advanced.

‘Yes, it is going to hurt a bit but this pain doesn’t compare to what I was going through before.’

Eamonn has been using social media to keep viewers and fans posted on how he’s feeling, and on the day before his surgery, he made an optimistic post on Instagram about how his new hips would be the start of a new future:

My future starts tomorrow with 2 new Hips. I hope they're worth it !

Later on during his phonecall, Eamonn, 56, reveal more about the recovery process:  ‘At the moment, everything is difficult from charging my mobile phone to brushing my teeth. It’s all just such an effort. Your head also becomes really foggy. But the health professionals do know what they are doing.’

Unsurprisingly, his wife and co-host Ruth Langsford has led hundreds of messages that wish him well. Retweeting a picture of Eamonn on crutches, she commented: ‘Baby steps darling….baby steps. SO proud of you…..I won’t even complain if you swear! X x’

Another supporter includes funnyman Keith Lemon, who is hoping for Eamonn to get ‘fixed up and back on’t telly!’

We couldn’t agree more – wishing Eamonn all the best and a speedy recovery!
