One Direction have asked Ed Sheeran to help write tracks for their second album

Ed Sheeran was at the Olympics Closing Ceremony with good mates One Direction last night.

The boys performed hit single What Makes You Beautiful and Ed sang Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here.

The red-haired singer-songwriter, who penned a track for 1D‘s debut album Up All Night, has been hanging out at a Buckinghamshire recording studio with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

‘We spoke to him about helping again for the next album, which we want to write with him this time,’ Liam, 18, told the Daily Star last year.

And Niall, 19, admitted:  ‘Getting to write with Ed was an honour’.

Earlier this week they all took a break from songwriting to play a quick game of football.
