Take That are to perform at the Brit Awards 2015, their sixth year playing music there since 1994

Take That are the latest act to be
confirmed to play the Brit Awards on 25 February.

The band, which became a trio when Jason
Orange
announced his departure last year, will be performing for the sixth time
in the last 20 years, joining a line-up of artists including previously announced Taylor Swift, Ed
Sheeran
, Sam Smith, plus latest additions George Ezra, Royal Blood and Paloma Faith.

Madonna had been rumoured to be making an
appearance at the prestigious show at London’s O2 Arena to promote her new single
Living For Love, but so far her participation has not been confirmed.

‘Madonna wants
to perform to the biggest number of people for the maximum impact and there’s
no better place for a controversy-filled Madonna performance than the Brits,’ a source said.

‘She has already confirmed she will
perform at the Grammys [8 February], when she will debut the new music.

‘But her album is due out on 9 March, a
month after the LA ceremony, so she wants another large platform to perform her
songs on just before it is released.

Ant and Dec are presenting this year’s
ceremony, taking the reigns from James Corden.

The full list of nominees was revealed last
week, with some surprises in categories such as British Female Solo Artist,
with newcomers Ella Henderson and FKA Twigs – who is dating heartthrob Robert
Pattinson
– nominated for the gong, while established artists such as Cheryl
Fernandez-Versini
have been snubbed.

Lily Allen was also put up for the prize,
something even she seemed to be shocked by, writing on Twitter: ‘Wow, Brits nom , what a nice surprise. Thank you powers
that be.’

She later added: ‘Congratulations to everyone else nominated and also everyone that wasn’t.’ Was
that a dig, Lily?!

Either way, we can’t
wait to see all the stars get dressed up for the biggest night in British music
next month. Woop!
