Singer Lily Allen spoke about the experience from four years ago, on the Jonathan Ross Show
Lily Allen was brought to tears talking about the son she lost four years ago.
The singer’s baby boy was stillborn at
six months back in 2010 and while on The Jonathan Ross Show, she shared that losing a child is ‘the
most unfortunate thing that can ever happen to a person’.
But the 29-year-old singer told the talk show host that she took the
positives from the situation, and praised her loving husband for helping her get through such a dark period in her life.
She said on the programme: ‘I think it’s
difficult for anybody regardless of what world they live in and actually what I
took home from that experience was…
‘Even though it was the most unfortunate
thing that can ever happen to a person, I was very fortunate in the sense that
I have a loving partner to go home to and share that experience with.’
She realises that
this isn’t the case for everyone, and feels very lucky to have her hubby there by her side. It seems the tragedy brought her closer to her partner.
‘There are many
women – [there are] 17 stillbirths in the UK everyday – that go home and they
don’t have that support,’ Lily says. ‘They have to go home and deal with that
on their own so I am kind of in a bit of a – since that happened – in a count
my blessings scenario rather than feeling sorry for myself.’
Lily has been
married to builder Sam Cooper since June 2011 and the
couple have two daughters together – Ethel, two, and Marnie, one – who were both
travelling around America with their popstar mum recently.
She continued: ‘My kids were just on tour with me…
Seven weeks in America and they were on the tour bus with me,’ the mum-of-two says. ‘Woah, 27 hours from Atlanta to New York with two kids under three…
Lily said on the
show, which will air on Saturday at 9.45pm on ITV, even with two kids and a
busy schedule, she and Sam would like more children.
‘Yes… I’d love a
boy,’ she says.
Newly-blonde Lily also jokingly
said she wants another girl, just so she could have a bit of an OTT name.
‘And I’d also like
another girl just so I can call her Auxiliary Jane… or Pizza, I quite like
Pizza for a kid, or Mega Lolz that would be good. Megan Lolz,’ she added.
Lily‘s one tough
cookie for talking about her experience AND still loves a good LOL – what a
