Megan McKenna from Ex On The Beach tells Now how she maintains her gorgeous figure!

Ex On The Beach star Megan McKenna, 22, has a pretty incredible body. Question is, what’s her secret? Here, she talks to Now about her top-to-toe health secrets….

Hi Megan! You’ve got an amazing body, what’s your favourite workout?

I really don’t work out that much, but I take my poodle Daisy out for a walk every day. It’s really more about what I eat.

What do you love the most about your body?

I’d say my bum, that’s my boyfriend Jordan’s [Davies] favourite as well! I guess it’s quite perky and that’s why I like it so much.


Do you follow a strict diet?

My secret is that I’ve been diagnosed with coeliac disease so I have to eat really strictly because it’s a wheat and gluten intolerance. I eat a lot of spinach and I take vitamins too, so all of this helps keep me in shape.


When did you first discover something was wrong?

When I was 7-years-old. I was always an ill child, I had to have half a year off school because I was so unwell. That’s when they started doing tests on me, but it took them a good four to five years to find out what was wrong. I was 11-years-old when I was diagnosed.


How did your diagnosis change your life?

It’s changed my life massively. Before, when I went out I couldn’t eat anything without being ill.


Is it a nightmare when you eat in restaurants?

When I was single I used to be a pain in the arse on a first date, I was like: ‘I can’t eat that, I can’t go there.’ It is a bit awkward.


Are people understanding about your intolerance?

People think you’re being fussy and rude. But it’s hard to understand if you don’t have the disease yourself, but it can lead to bowel cancer in later years.


What food do you miss the most?

I can’t even remember what a Big Mac tastes like. I also miss jam donuts, the smell!

Now a lot more places are doing wheat free choices, but I can’t go to McDonalds for a quick something to eat.


What’s your guilty pleasure?

Red Berry Ciroc vodka with lemonade on a night out!

Michelle Keegan – her body is what I want mine to look like!

Now’s expert sports nutritionist Oliie Frost gives his verdict on Megan’s daily diet…


Breakfast: Two slices of wheat free fruit bread, tea with milk and one sugar and a glass of orange juice

OLLIE SAYS: ‘Ditch the bread and orange juice and replace with eggs and salmon. Foods high in protein will increase satiety, the feeling of fullness, offsetting potential overeating later on in the day.’

Lunch: Chicken stir-fry with extra bean sprouts and wheat free soy sauce.  I’ll have a bit of white rice on the side too.

OLLIE SAYS: ‘Chicken is a low fat, high in protein meat that will increase satiety the feeling of feeling full – great when trying to drop body fat. Sprouts contain phytonutrients these foods are high in anti-oxidants that will protect your immune system against infection and diseases.’

Dinner: Fillet steak (medium) with spinach and sweet potato

OLLIE SAYS: ‘Steak contains essential saturated fats that help repair and build lean muscle tissue. Carbs at night are perfect the myth suggests they will store body fat this is incorrect instead complex carbs will help restore energy balances.’

Snacks: Celery sticks and hummus.

OLLIE SAYS: ‘Hummus is another good source of fibre that slows digestion down keeping you fuller for longer, it forms a gel in the intestines which blocks the absorption of cholesterol and helps maintain blood sugar levels. Watch out even though its healthy its high in fat which means the calories are high.’

OLLIE SAYS: ‘Megan’s diet is good on the whole – however she should adjust her breakfast options including more protein where possible. Eggs, cottage cheese, salmon and mackerel all are great options for breakfast. Her overall calorie intake should also be slightly increased to ensure she is above the RDA especially if she is working out.’
