Carol McGiffin parties hard with her former Celebrity Big Brother housemates following breast cancer battle
Last week Carol McGiffin enjoyed her first night out after her year long battle with breast cancer.
The former Loose Women presenter was first diagnosed with a highly aggressive tumour in April 2014. Since then Carol, 55, had a mastectomy, six rounds of intensive chemotherapy and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. All without going public because she didn’t want any sympathy.
She finally opened up about her illness earlier this year in February.
Now in remission, Carol couldn’t contain her joy at getting glammed up again as she made her first red carpet appearance since ending her treatment in December.
Stepping out at In The Style’s Summer Party with Now at The Drury Club in London with fiancé Mark Cassidy, 32, by her side, Carol told us: ‘It’s just so good to party and get out again. I’m having a great time! It’s so funny though there are so many young people here.’
The party also saw an emotional reunion for Carol with Charlotte Crosby, 25, with whom she struck up an unlikely friendship after they met in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2013.
With an overjoyed Carol telling us: ‘This is the first time I’ve been able to see Charlotte in a year.’
Despite having to go for routine check-ups over the next five years until she gets the all clear, Carol has expressed that for a long time she felt that she couldn’t even go out just incase people would stare and notice she was ill.
It was fantastic seeing a great big smile across Carol’s face and we hope that this will mean we see many more CBB reunions.
