Ed Sheeran's tattoo artist Kevin Paul confirms to Now the lion tattoo is genuine

Ed Sheeran really knows how to mess with our minds.

After unveiling some impressive colourful artwork in the shape of a lion on his chest a few weeks ago, the singer has confused fans by telling them it was fake tattoo.

On Wednesday morning, Ed, 24, uploaded a photograph of his bare chest. “Was only joking about the lion,” he captioned the shot.

However, some eagle eye fans claimed they could still see the shadow of the lion, adding they thought it was covered up by make-up. “The lion is definitely still there…. he covered it with makeup, look close,’ one wrote, while another said, ‘Can still see the shadow of the lion tho.’ A third wrote: ‘NOOO it’s makeup just covering it.”

Now’s Dean Uzzell met Ed’s tattoo artist Kevin Paul who reveals the tattoo is definitely NOT fake.

“All I’m saying is it has taken me six hours so far to put it on his chest,” he said.

Ed sent fans into a frenzy when he posted the a picture of a huge lion’s face emblazoned on his chest earlier this month. He captioned the shot: “Lion is courtesy of @kp_est78, who puts up with me complaining about the pain.” Paul replied: “Can’t wait to start the rest it’s going to be amazing love you dude xxx.”

When haters criticised the inkwork, Ed, even defended his decision, saying: “All this kerfuffle over a tattoo. If it was black and white, saying a clever phrase in a language I can’t speak, no one would’ve said anything. It’s not the first weird tattoo I’ve got and it won’t be the last, but I like all of them.”
