Westlife star reveals how he came close to throttling him after prank went wrong
They’re the clean-cut boys of pop, but Westlife star Shane Filan admits he almost killed his tour manager.
The 28-year-old says he came close to strangling him after a prank went wrong.
Westlife were staying at the 17th Century Castle Leslie in Glaslough, County Monaghan, Ireland, which is rumoured to be haunted.
‘The whole place was freaky,’ Shane recalls. ‘It was a very scary night, and I don’t think I even slept. Our tour manager was jumping out and scaring the life out of us.’
At one point, the prankster hid in a wardrobe in the singer’s room and pounced on Shane when he least expected it.
‘I nearly actually throttled him,’ Shane tells Now Online. ‘I was only about 19 or 18 at the time. It’s cold and it’s dark, I nearly jumped through the window with a fright.
‘I turned round and grabbed him by the neck and I nearly killed him.’
Fortunately, the pair look back on the incident now and remember it as good fun.
