Ferne McCann talks to Now in her most open and emotional interview yet

Although the Ferne McCann we’ve come to love on The Only Way Is Essex is nothing but funny, frank and confident.

As she opens up exclusively to Now following her ‘terrifying’ collapse which saw her faint at the gym in front of her mother Gilly and boyfriend Charlie Sims, we see a whole different side to the visibly shaken star.

Ferne, tell us exactly what happened…
I went for a swim with my mum and Charlie at our local gym followed by a Jacuzzi. As I stepped out of the Jacuzzi I fainted, hitting my head, arms and leg on the tiles as I smashed to the ground. I was lucky – if I’d have passed out I could have died.

Then what happened?
After 30 seconds I came round, but then felt myself jerking uncontrollably. I was semi-conscious, so for a split second I felt the jerks. I was terrified and embarrassed because everyone in the pool was watching. Charlie said it was the loudest bang he’d ever heard. The lifeguards came over and I sat by the Jacuzzi crying. It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life.

What did Charlie and your mum do then?
My mum’s a sports therapist so she’s used to seeing injuries, but I could tell she was really concerned. The look on her face made me so sad. Charlie was just really worried. When I went back to the changing room, he said: ‘I don’t want to leave you’. Even though it was only for a couple of minutes!

Ferne then goes on to open up about the alarming medical tests that followed, her ‘disappointment’ at finding out she wasn’t pregnant, and her ‘addiction’ to exercising.
