Kate was admitted to hospital this morning
Kate Middleton has gone into labour, it’s been confirmed.
The Duchess, 31, was admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London just before 6am this morning.
Prince William accompanied his wife as they travelled by car from Kensington Palace without any police escorts.
A statement was released by royal officials after rumours began to circulate that the mum-to-be had been spotted.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, in the early stages of labour,’ a statement from the Palace reads.
The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.’
A spokesperson for the couple also tells the Mirror: Things are progressing as normal.’
The news comes over a week after Kate’s rumoured due date, which was believed to be 13 July.
The birth is to be overseen by the Queen‘s former and current gynaecologists Marcus Setchell and Alan Farthing.
When the baby is born an announcement will be taken from the hospital to Buckingham Palace and will be placed on an easel in the forecourt.
