Some think Marnie's comment could be setting a bad example
The 22-year-old wrote alongside a frustrated sad face emoji yesterday: ‘9 STONE. Great.’
Some of Marnie‘s followers thought she was sending out a dangerous message, with one commenting: ‘Poor example to set to young girls these days.’
Others wrote: ‘are you actually kidding. You’re an adult not a 14 year old girl!! 9 stone is a good weight!’ and: ‘one of my legs weighs about 9 stone man, give it a rest ✋🏼.’
But Marnie didn’t seem fazed by the criticism.
Her Geordie Shore pal Sophie Kasaei responded to her original Tweet by saying: ‘Let’s go gym now skun,’ to which she replied: ‘meta fit tonight.’
It’s actually quite surprising to see Marnie complaining about her shape. She recently told us she was feeling relaxed about the way she looked.
‘Before Geordie Shore, I had a real problem: I was obsessed with what I was eating. It took over my life and I wasn’t happy,’ said Marnie.
‘I got over it, though, and I’m enjoying my life more than ever. I’m a size 8 now, but if I can’t fit into a size 10, I start to worry. Crisps are my downfall!’
The Geordie Shore girls are known for their changing sizes, with Marnie‘s co-stars Holly Hagan, Vicky Pattison and Charlotte Crosby all going through dramatic transformations since coming to fame.
Earlier this year, Marnie herself revealed that she’d lost 17lbs in just one month through working out with a personal trainer and switching to a low fat diet.
Back then, the brunette – who’s dating TOWIE‘s Ricky Rayment – admitted that her body woes were down to insecurities.
‘I remember one person said: "You used to be the skinniest and now you’re the fattest [on Geordie Shore],"’ said Marnie.
‘I’d be lying if I said those comments didn’t really hurt – you try to ignore them but it is impossible.’
