Why George Clooney was willing to get hitched again thanks to Amal Alamuddin
It’s really happening! George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are set to tie the knot on Saturday.
And with the likes of gorgeous ladies Lisa Snowdon, Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler all trying their luck at taming the silver fox at one point after he seemingly vowed not to get hitched a second time, perhaps us ladies could learn a thing or two from the British brunette bombshell.
All eyes are on Amal after she touched down in Milan, Italy on Thursday before she prepares to say ‘I do’ to the former ER stud at what’s expected to be the Aman Canal Grande Venice Hotel.
While she was spotted toting a Stella McCartney garment bag at the airport, it’s thought she will walk down the aisle in a gown by Kate Middleton‘s bridal designer-of-choice Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and wear Monique Lhuillier at an after-party this Sunday.
One thing that has been confirmed though is that George will don a suit by Emporio Armani, as Italian fashion designer Georgio Armani revealed at his Fashion Week presentation.
What is it about the smart 36-year-old that won the heart of America’s eligible screen dream and cause gorgeous George to announce ‘I’m marrying up’?
Here are 5 reasons Amal was the one who could tame George:
1) She’s a bilingual beauty
Not only has she got a striking image to grab a guy’s attention but Amal can talk the talk too. The British-Lebanese lawyer has a pretty impressive tongue on her as she can speak French and Arabic.
It’s no wonder he popped the question on 28 April and they snapped up their marriage licence on 7 August.
2) She’s changing the world
Amal worked at Doughty Street chambers when she met her beau, specialising in human rights, international law and extradition.
The smart lady studied at two prestigious places too: St Hugh’s college, Oxford and New York University of Law. Amal is also known for representing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in Swedish extradition proceedings.
One of her massive claims to fame prior to hooking up with her actor fiancé is being a Syria advisor to former UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan. A girl can only hope a man takes them on a safari date to Tanzania a few weeks into a seeing each other but now we’re starting to understand why George was smitten enough to do this for Amal!
3) George’s friends approve
The couple have been seen enjoying a double date with actors Emily Blunt and John Kransinski.
Julia Roberts gushed about how happy she was for pal George’s latest relationship on The Ellen Show, plus even George’s dad has publicly given his stamp of approval.
And with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon rumoured to be in the running for the Best Man title, Amal will have added quite a few more celeb names to her mobile phone contacts as her big day nears. Bono and The Edge from U2, as well as Cindy Crawford and her hubby turned up to the Malibu engagement bash. Talk about friends in high places…
4) She’s got great style
It looks like designers are practically begging to put their clothes on Amal as apparently Oscar De la Renta is in the running to be her main wedding dress designer too.
Besides her nuptials, Amal captured our attention with her impeccable wardrobe choices as she stepped out in lace-up Chanel boots, a bubblegum pink Balenciaga frock, and who isn’t envious of her smooth dark tresses and polished make-up look? No wonder she has been compared to the Duchess of Cambridge. Watch out Kate!
5) She was hard to get
While many of us would give our right arm to experience just being in the presence of George Clooney, Amal certainly knows how to play it cool. She is said to have turned him down twice when he asked her to dinner and before finally giving in to a date on the third try.
Only a few months later she joined his mum and dad as guests at a White House screening of his flick The Monuments Men, so the way she hooked him in must have worked a treat!
