George Clooney's rep says Amal isn't pregnant. Her dad will be disappointed!
As quickly as the excitement built over the prospect of a mini George Clooney, the speculation has been quashed *boo*.
An American gossip site ran a series of pictures of Amal Clooney in a voluminous coat that appeared to show a baby bump, sending the Internet into a frenzy.
Despite Amal’s dad Ramzi Alamuddin previously making his desire for grandchildren known, he’ll have to wait a bit longer.
‘Now it’s time for grandchildren,’ he said during a wedding speech.
‘Amal Clooney is not pregnant,’ were the words from George‘s rep Stan Rosenfeld. So, that’s the end of that…or is it?
When Amal and George tied the knot in September, Ramzi opened his speech with the absolutely-no-pressure line ‘now’s the time for grandchildren!’, according to Us Weekly. Whether George will take his father-in-law’s hint, though, is another matter.
He’s no stranger to being quizzed about starting a family. Last year, when Esquire probed him on whether he’d like to bring any more Clooneys into the world, he pretty much responded with a big, fat no.
‘What do you do? Should I go, “I got to get me some kids right now!” and rush out and impregnate someone?’ Err, that’s not quite how it works, George, but we get the point.
Before Amal, George dated WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler, and it’s rumoured they split because he didn’t want children. Another ex, actress Kimberley Russell, also branded him a commitment-phobe after their break-up, saying: ‘The guy is an absolute charmer, but just don’t mention the words “marriage, commitment or babies”.’
Props to Amal for not only mentioning ‘marriage’ and ‘commitment’, but selling such an un-Clooney-ish idea to George, too.
After divorcing his first wife Talia Balsam in 1993, George claimed to be ‘not very good’ at marriage.
And babies? Although Amal isn’t pregnant now, we reckon she’s done an admirable job of changing George‘s mind on commitment so far. If her dad gets his way, Clooney Junior could be next on the list.
