Squeal - Frozen is back! Anyone for building some more snowmen?
It’s no secret that the biggest children’s movie in 2013 was Frozen – every where you went, little girls were parading the streets dressed as Anna and Elsa, bellowing ‘LET IT GO!’ in everyone’s ears. It’s on lunchboxes, calendars, dresses, seat belts, even condensed soup (yes, really).
So it’s no surprise that Disney decided it was time to give the kids what they’ve been waiting for and create a sequel. Yes, people – Frozen 2 is coming. Snow and voice boxes at the ready.
The Walt Disney Company tweeted on Thursday that the movie has been confirmed, with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee returning alongside stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad. Chief creative officer at Pixar, John Lasseter, said ‘We enjoyed making ‘Frozen Fever’ so much and being back in that world with those characters.
‘Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.’ So are we John. So are we.
There’s no release date confirmed yet, but the creators have already given us a taste of what to come with Frozen Fever, a seven-minute short animation shown in cinemas ahead of Cinderella, which is out tomorrow.
It looks like Disney has timed the sequel perfectly, with Frozen mania unlikely to die down any time soon. Even celebrity children have jumped on to the bandwagon – North West was seen pulling an Elsa and Anna suitcase on her way back from Paris Fashion Week, requiring no help from mum Kim Kardashian. Harper Beckham has been spotted trotting around in an Anna dress on various occasions, with super dad David Beckham even taking her to see a VIP sing-a-long. Awww!
We can’t wait for the new movie to be released, but for now we’ll go back to our Frozen toilet seats and spaghetti hoops. Yay!
