Eek! A teething baby listens to no woman
Juggling motherhood with a career is a struggle that many women face every day – but when there’s the added pressure of being in the public eye, it can be difficult to uphold an image of perfection for the fans.
But one of the reasons that so many love Giovanna Fletcher is due to the fact she is always very open about the joys and struggles that come with being a mum. In a recent Instagram post, she did exactly that – proving that even someone who’s been voted Mum of the Year isn’t immune to some toddler drama!
Author Giovanna took to her social media channels to let fans in on the day she’d had with sons Buzz, 2-and-a-half, and six-month-old Buddy. Between husband Tom Fletcher’s music and children’s writing career, and her penning of her next romantic novel, Gi admits that she doesn’t often get to spend a full day alone with the kids – but on Monday (22nd August), she switched it up.
She begins her tale: ‘Suddenly realised I rarely get a full day on my own with the munchkins but if I do I’ve tended to stay at home and in the garden… But today it happened. I took them out.’
Happily, the outing started well with a trip to the shops: ‘The first hour was fab – they were laughing and playing together. Then they napped… Brilliant!’
Yet things began to go a little left when she met up with Matt and Emma Willis and their brood – as the Fletcher boys had a moment of kiddie rebellion!
‘Then we met the Willis’ for lunch and it all fell to pot. Buzz didn’t want to stay in his seat and wouldn’t listen to me. Buddy continuously moaned and then had a full blown meltdown (I think he’s teething)…
‘Now we’re home they’re laughing and playing again but I’m a beaten woman. Read someone’s Instagram post that read ‘You got this Mama’… Today I don’t feel ‘I got this’.
Aww, Giovanna! Thankfully, she was able to see the positive side, as in the end, she realised that the day was mostly a success and that she wouldn’t change it for the world:
‘Although, if you think about it, only the last hour was a disaster and the rest was fab. So it was actually a 75% successful trip. Now time for dinner, bath and bed… The fun never ends! #mumlife #wouldntchangeit #ineedaliedown’.
Hundreds of fans commented with their own similar experiences, and many praised her for being so open. One user, daisy1981yes, wrote at the end of her own tale: ‘This parenting lark isn’t easy but I really thank you for your honesty.’
And we completely agree – a problem shared truly is a problem halved!
