Twilight star turns 24
Robert Pattinson is 24 today.
The Twilight star is born under the star sign of Taurus.
Involved in amateur theatre from an early age, the London-born star always dreamed of making it on the big screen.
Having unsuccessfully attempted to launch a modelling career – Robert began actively looking for professional film roles in early 2003.
With several blink-and-you’d-miss-it parts under his belt, Robert got his first taste of stardom when he was signed up to play Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire in 2005.
His performance alongside Daniel Radcliffe won him praise from The Times newspaper, which named him their British Star Of Tomorrow.
It was with Twilight that Robert was able to fully realise this potential.
Based on Stephenie Meyer‘s best-selling novel, the movie, about the budding romance between an ordinary schoolgirl and a vampire, exceeded expectations at the box office when it was released in November 2008.
Teen power saw the Catherine Hardwicke-directed picture debut in the States with a whopping $70.6million take, the biggest opening of all time for a film directed by a woman.
Since playing the mysterious Edward Cullen, Robert
has won a legion of admirers, making it almost impossible for him to lead a normal life.
With the paparazzi and hordes of screaming fans following his every move, Robert has admitted that he can no longer go out without being mobbed and has even resorted to checking into hotels using aliases.
With all the attention his rise to fame has brought, there has naturally been speculation about his love life.
Notoriously protective about his privacy, Robert is believed to be involved with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart but has not spoken openly about their relationship.
Using Twilight as a springboard, Robert has been able to develop his other passions in recent months. He plays the guitar and piano, composes his own music and has even spoken of releasing his own album.
