Cheryl has joined One Direction fans in sending condolences to Louis Tomlinson after news of his mum’s death.

The star’s mother Johannah Deakin passed away aged 43 on Wednesday following a battle with leukaemia, a statement from her husband Dan confirmed on Friday. She leaves behind Louis and his six siblings as well as her grandson Freddie.

Cheryl – girlfriend of Louis’ bandmate Liam Payne – sent Louis a heartfelt message via Twitter after hearing of his devastating loss.

‘my heart breaks for you,’ the 33-year-old posted. ‘I am so sorry.

‘My thoughts are with you and your loved ones at this incredibly tragic time.’

Louis’ former 1D bandmate Zayn Malik – who left the band in March 2015 – has reached out too by Tweeting a very moving message.

‘@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x,’ Zayn wrote.

Other stars have been sending their sympathies to 24-year-old Louis and his family too.

1D’s former X Factor mentor Simon Cowell has paid tribute to Johannah, writing: ‘Heartbroken for you @Louis_Tomlinson. Your mum Jay was an incredible person. Sending you all my love’

Cheryl’s man Liam has also shared his sympathies in a lengthy message shared on Twitter.

‘I’m so sorry for you my brother my heart aches for you,’ he wrote. ‘Just know I love you the same from a million miles away as i do right next to you.’

Former The Wanted star Nathan Sykes Tweeted: ‘Thoughts are with @Louis_Tomlinson today. Heartbreaking news.’

Meanwhile showbiz blogger Perez Hilton admitted he’d been moved to tears by the news.

‘I just got goosebumps and am now in tears!’ he told his Twitter fans. ’42 is TOO YOUNG!!!! My heart breaks for #LouisTomlinson and his family!!!’

Piers Morgan posted: ‘What sad, shocking news. Deepest sympathy to @Louis_Tomlinson & all his family’

Boyzone’s Ronan Keating – who lost his mother to breast cancer in 1998 and went on to record an album of tribute songs for her – has also sent his condolences.

‘My Heart goes out to Louis Tomlinson and his family at this time. Heartbreaking,’ he wrote on Twitter.

Johannah was popular with many 1D fans and hundreds of Directioners have been paying tribute to her on social media.

The hashtag #RIPJohannah started trending as upset Twitter users expressed their sadness at the mum-of-seven’s passing.

‘She raised 7 amazing, talented & beautiful children. Heaven gained another angel. Always in our hearts. Sincerely, Directioners #RIPJohannah,’ one fan posted.

Another wrote: ‘a beautiful person, an amazing mother and grandmother. you will be missed #RIPJohannah’
