NYPD will probe actor’s medicine supply
Why Heath Ledger had such a huge stash of prescription drugs in his home will be investigated by the NYPD.
Toxicology tests released yesterday revealed the Brokeback Mountain star died from an accidental overdose of medication.
The NYPD will work alongside the federal government to determine how he obtained such a large supply.
‘We are working with the NYPD to identify any illegally prescribed drugs that may have been prescribed to [Ledger],’ New York’s Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Erin Mulvey tells People.com.
The investigation comes after the actor’s father Kim Ledger released a statement calling for a closer look at the safety of prescribed medicines.
‘Heath’s accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage,’ he said.
Heath, 28, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on 22 January.
