Oscar-winning actress lives a normal life
Helen Mirren might be a Dame but she’s kept a very down-to-earth attitude.
The actress, who won an Oscar in 2007 for her portrayal of the Queen, admits she likes to lead a normal life.
‘I’m the daughter of a cabbie,’ says Helen, 67.
‘I still carry PG Tips in my handbag and look for clothes in thrift shops. I go on the Tube, I take the bus. If someone comes up to talk to me in the supermarket, that’s fine.’
Helen is known for sometimes being unconventional – she recently sported bright pink hair on the BAFTA red carpet -and she thinks her no-nonsense attitude is the reason she’s seen as sexy by many.
‘You think ‘sex symbol’ and imagine a gorgeous babe,’ Helen tells TV Magazine.
‘I’m not beautiful and I have never been under the misapprehension that I am. But I’m not hideous either. I’m just very real – and men like real women.’
